Local Male Commits Suicide in Front of Andrew County Sheriff’s Office

ANDREW COUNTY, MO – Andrew County Sheriff Grant Gillett issued a press release yesterday stating Sheriff’s Office staff noticed a male subject down in the front public parking lot of the sheriff’s office around 1:23 in the afternoon. Staff responded and found the man to be suffering from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Sheriff Gillett told the Savannah Reporter that the man, who was only identified as a local 74-year-old male, had no criminal record or known family in Andrew County. He was known to have been living in Andrew County and was not homeless. Sheriff Gillett said a six-shot revolver was recovered at the scene.

An investigation is ongoing.
