Maine Man Charged in Worth County With Bribery of Public Servant

GRANT CITY, MO – A Maine man has been charged in Worth County with bribery of a public servant.

Forty-five year old Craig Conway of Denmark, Maine is alleged to have originally been stopped by the highway patrol in late September for speeding. Law enforcement says a search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of controlled substances.

An affidavit issued by the arresting officer indicates Conway offered to make a donation to law enforcement in lieu of a speeding ticket he was issued during the stop. It is also alleged that Conway later contacted the Worth County Prosecuting Attorney’s office offering $10,000 to not file the drug charge.

Conway now faces two counts of bribery of a public servant and felony drug possession charges. The court has issued a warrant for his arrest.
