Man Charged With 1st Degree Murder in Starcher Case

Authorities in Buchanan County today (Friday) charged a second suspect in the killing of 21-year-old Ariel Starcher more than one year ago.

Prosecuting Attorney Ron Holliday announced 29-year-old Marcus Brooks has been charged with 1st degree murder in the killing of Starcher, whose body was found bound and gagged in a duffel bag dumped off a rural Buchanan County road near Faucett in February 2020.

A no bond warrant for the arrest of Brooks was issued. Arraignment for Brooks is scheduled for Tuesday, April 20 at 8:15 A.M. in front of Judge Rebecca Spencer.

In February prosecutors charged 22-year-old Taylor Stoughton with 2nd degree murder in relation to the case.
