Maryville Accident Leaves 5 Injured, 2 Seriously
5 people were taken to the hospital, 2 with serious injuries, following an accident late Thursday afternoon just east of Maryville on Highway 136.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports two vehicles were heading eastbound on Highway 136. 20 year old Connor Nielson of Maryville was the driver of one of the vehicles and slowed to turn on to Pleasant View road, just east of Maryville. 36 year old Charles Henry of Ravenwood was following his vehicle and failed to slow down. His vehicle hit Nielson’s vehicle and attached to the vehicle. Both of those vehicles then crossed the center of the roadway and struck the back driver’s side tire of a third vehicle, driven by 41 year old Grant Hagaman.
Hagaman’s pickup went off stopped on the shoulder of the roadway. The two other vehicles detached after impacting the third vehicle. One of those vehicles eventually stopped on the shoulder of the roadway. The other came to rest in a private driveway.
Charles Henry and 44 year old Randi Nielson of Maryville were both seriously injured in the accident and taken to Mosaic Medical Center of Maryville. Connor Nielson, a 12 year old boy and a 16 year old male received moderate injuries. They were also taken to Mosaic Medical Center in Maryville.
The accident took place just before 4pm Thursday afternoon. The Nodaway County Sheriff’s Department and the Missouri Department of Conservation aided the Highway Patrol.
