Maryville Man Air Lifted to Hospital Following Crash, Driver Arrested

A Maryville man was transported by air evac after sustaining serious injuries in an accident near Maryville.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports 60-year-old Phillip McGinley was riding southbound on Hawk Road with driver 31-year-old Adam L. Mattson. Five miles north of Maryville, their UTV traveled off the east side of the roadway. The UTV overturned and struck a fence.

McGinley was ejected during the crash. He was transported by Clarinda Air Evac to Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.

The accident took place Friday around 10:15 pm.

The driver, Mattson, was arrested on charges of felony DWI causing serious physical injury, felony leaving the scene of a crash with serious physical injury, careless and imprudent driving involving a crash, and unlawfully operated a utility vehicle on a highway.

He was taken to the Nodaway County Jail for a 24-hour hold pending formal charges.
