Maryville Pair Injured in U.S. 71 Crash Wednesday Night

Two Maryville residents suffered injuries in a Nodaway County crash Wednesday evening.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports the accident occurred around 7:38 Wednesday night on U.S. 71, about 15 miles south of Maryville, as 22-year-old Elisea T. Downs drove northbound.

Troopers say Downs’ front left tire deflated and caused the car to skid.

Downs went off the west side of the road, struck a bridge structure, returned to the road, and came to a rest.

Downs and a passenger, 20-year-old Mason J. Bammer, suffered minor injuries and sought treatment at Mosaic in Maryville.

Authorities say only Downs wore a seat belt at the time of the crash.
