Maryville Pair Seriously Injured in UTV Crash Early Sunday
Two Maryville men suffered serious injuries in a Worth County crash early Sunday morning.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports the accident occurred around 2:20 Sunday morning at Cedar Avenue at 100th Road, five miles north of Sheridan, as 20-year-old Donato I. Chesnut drove a UTV northbound.
Troopers say the UTV failed to negotiate a curve, overturned, and ejected Chesnut and a passenger.
Chesnut suffered serious injuries and sought treatment at Mosaic in Saint Joseph.
The passenger in the UTV, 21-year-old Dakota J. McMahon, also suffered serious injuries and sought treatment at Mosaic in Saint Joseph.
Authorities say neither man wore safety gear at the time of the crash.
Following the crash, troopers arrested Chesnut on preliminary charges of felony driving while intoxicated – causing serious physical injury, operating a motor vehicle in a careless and imprudent manner, and not wearing a seat belt.
