MDC Hosting Free Fishing Classes in St. Joseph & Plattsburg

The Missouri Department of Conservation will host free fishing classes during May at Saint Joseph and near Plattsburg.

A flyfishing class will be offered from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 10, at Everyday Pond on the campus of Missouri Western State University in Saint Joseph.

MDC will offer a Fishing Day at Krug Park from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 11, in Saint Joseph.

The Discover Nature Fishing Series lessons one through four will be offered from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 13, at MDC’s Northwest Regional Office in Saint Joseph.

MDC will offer Discover Nature Fishing lessons one and two from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, May 15, at the Ronald and Maude Hartell Conservation Area east of Plattsburg.

Finally, Discover Nature Fishing lessons three and four will be offered from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 16, in the Hartell area.

These classes are a good way for newcomers to learn basic fishing skills with help from instructors.

MDC will provide bait and tackle.

Registration is required.

All participants ages 16 to 64 will need a valid fishing permit.
