MDC Seeking Public Comment on Proposed Photography/Videography Permit Changes

The Missouri Department of Conservation wants public comment on a proposed change to photography and videography permits.

At its December open meeting, the Missouri Conservation Commission gave initial approval to regulation changes from MDC that will eliminate the required commercial permits and the associated fees for photography and videography in MDC areas.

MDC regulations currently require photographers who shoot in MDC areas to purchase a Commercial Photography Permit for an annual fee of 100 dollars if the activities directly or indirectly result in financial gain or benefit.

Those shooting videos in MDC areas need to purchase a Commercial Videography Permit with an associated fee of 500 dollars per day if the activities directly or indirectly result in financial gain or benefit.

MDC invites the public to comment on its proposed regulations that would eliminate the requirement for commercial permits and related fees for photography and videography on its conservation and natural areas online from February 2 through March 3.

The Commission will then give the regulation changes final consideration at its March 14 open meeting.

If approved, the regulation changes would become effective July 1.
