Mercer Board Accepts Superintendent’s Retirement Letter

Mercer’s School District will begin their search for their next superintendent. During a meeting Monday night, Mercer School Board members approved the retirement letter of Superintendent Dan Owens. The Mercer Board will be looking to contract with the Missouri Association of Rural Educators for aid in the search for the next Mercer School Superintendent.

Mercer’s board also approved 21st Century Grant employee contracts. 19 employees will be paid with the federal grant. The positions will range from program director to after school tutors.

A Career Ladder Program was also approved for the Mercer School District. Teri Noe will be the Board Committee Member of Career ladder. The District’s Career Ladder Plan will be developed, and plans will be approved in the near future.

Mercer’s board reviewed the Comprehensive School Improvement Plan Draft.

Makayli Purvis was also employed as a Special Education Instructor and Speech aid.
