Mercer Board Approves Application For Minimum Teacher Salary Grant
Mercer’s School District will submit an application to the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education for the supplemental funding one-time grant which will allow the district to create a salary scale which will include a $38,000 minimum teacher salary. The approval for the application came at a meeting on Monday night.
The board approved a front door video for the school’s entrance. The entrance will include remote licenses that would allow use with a phone app. The installation will be done prior to the start of the school year.
Board members approved the Board of Education Goals for the upcoming school year, discussed the Return to Learn Plan. That plan is a return to pre-Covid day-to-day operations.
The board received an update on the concrete projects which have been previously approved. They also agreed to pay incoming principal Wade Hall for time served while performing Administrative duties prior to the start of his contracted year.
Terry Bomgardner was hired as Homeless Liason and Migrant Education Director. Melissa Hill will be Foster care point of contact. Greg Frost will be the English language learners Coordinator.
A bid was approved from Prairie Farms for milk products.
The board offered contracts to Brooke Leeper for Kindergarten, Sherri Baker as Business instructor, and Tana Moore for 7th through 12th grade English.
Mercer will hold a Tax Rate Hearing as part of their next session on August 8th.
