Mercer Board Approves Girls Basketball Coaching Staff For Upcoming Year At August Session

Mercer School Board members approved their Secretary of the Board Report and approved the girls basketball coaching staff for the year during their meeting held Monday night.

The Secretary of the Board report showed the district with an unrestricted fund balance that is equal to 64 percent of the district’s budget.

Salary adjustments were approved so that 10 teachers can participate in the Teacher Baseline Salary Grant for the 23-24 school year.

The district approved the adoption of the MSHSAA Eligibility Policy which allows classifications of traditional and non-traditional 1 students to participate in activities outlined in the MSHSAA Handbook for all district activities.

The district’s increase in adult lunch prices was approved to $3.45.

The district offered a part-time teaching contract and extra-duty contract to Dan Owens to coach Girls Basketball for the 2023-24 school year. Jody Owens was offered an extra-duty contract to be Assistant Girls Varsity Basketball Coach. Jill West was also approved as the Junior Class Sponsor for the 2023-24 schoolyear.

The stipend for a recently-approved administrator supervisor role was approved at 30 dollars per event.

Rob Koon was hired to a part-time position to assist the technology director.
