Mercer Board Dealing With Significant Health Insurance Increase
Mercer School Board members received notification from Superintendent Dan Owens that health insurance rates will be increased by nearly 20 percent for next year. The notification came at a meeting held on Monday night. The district currently caps the health insurance benefit for school employees at $600 per month. The new cost per month per employee for health care coverage will be near $800. Those new rates would be in effect in January. The superintendent will discuss the health insurance situation with teachers on Friday to determine their preferences in regard to health insurance.
The Mercer School District’s filing dates for school board candidates will be December 15th through January 19th. The office will be open until 5pm on January 19th. The current board positions occupied by Kirk Ellis and Ben Fisher will be up for election.
The Mercer School’s Christmas Concert will be held December 15th at 6pm. The protocols for the concert will be released at a later time.
The Mercer school district plans to deliver 35 Veteran’s Day lunches on Wednesday. Those deliveries will be made by students and staff.
