Mercer Board Gets Update On High School Principal Search
Mercer School Board members will continue to obtain information about an Early Childhood Center project. While the board decided not to pursue the project at this time in December, the would like to keep getting information and determine a building plan that may be reviewed at a later date.
Mercer’s board received an update on the school’s search for a High School Principal. Applicants will be narrowed down before candidates are taken to the school board for interviews. At this time, no closing date for applicants has been discussed. The board also tabled the evaluation of the superintendent until February.
A proposal was presented for changing the dollar amount paid for “leave days”. At this time, 65 days can be carried over with $20 paid for each day over each year or $20 per day paid upon leaving the district. There may be further discussion on the proposal in February.
Mercer approved the school calendar for the 2023-24 school year. The starting date of school will be Wednesday, August 16th for teachers and Tuesday, August 22nd for students. The last student day will be May 16, 2024.
Mercer’s board accepted a resignation of Shelia Ash as school cook. The district has offered a contract for Martha Clark for the position.
