Mercer school board members received word that health insurance rates will be going up nearly 20% for the district. The information came during a meeting held on Monday night. Previously, the Mercer School District set a cap on health insurance at $600 per employee. The new rates will become effective in January.

Mercer’s school district will have their candidate filing dates begin on December 17th for three school board positions that will be up for election. The candidate filing dates will extend through January 21st and will be held during school hours. The seats open for the April election will include those held by Julie Graham, Peggy Johnson, and Justin Holt.

Mercer’s board will not be pursuing the MoBeef for MoKids program at this time.

The board also discussed how to charge tuition for students that move out of the district at mid-year in the event the situation ever takes place.
