Mercer Superintendent Dan Owens reported to Mercer School Board members Wednesday that the Mercer School District’s health insurance rates will be increased by nearly 20 percent. The new rates are expected to range between $850 and $980. The new rates become effective in January. The district previously set a cap of $600 per employee for health insurance coverage. The district’s situation will be discussed with the Mercer teaching staff this week.

The district received a property quote from CPSK insurance. The district plans to increase their coverage by $500,000 at a cost of $100,000. The district is making the move because the district is underinsured for the rising cost of replacement.

Mercer had 16 winners and 10 first time winners for the Millemon Math Awards. Each student will receive $11.34.

The new window for the commons area will be replaced on Friday during inservice.

The Board of Education candidate filing dates for Mercer will be December 7th through December 28th during school hours. The office will also be open until 5pm on December 28th. There will be two seats up for the April election.

The board seats currently held by Tracy Meinecke and Jennifer Wilson will be up for election.

The district has also received the Patterson Rural School Pandemic Grant. The amount will be $3,000.
