Mid Day Accident in Ray County Leaves Two With Serious Injuries

An ill-advised left hand turn resulted in a two-vehicle accident that left two people with serious injuries Tuesday afternoon in Ray County.

Troop A of the Highway Patrol says at 12:38 P.M. Tuesday a 1999 Chevy Silverado being driven eastbound on Missouri Route 10 at Businesses Route 10 by 87-year-old Richmond resident Sadie L. Outersky.

Outersky reportedly attempted to make a left hand turn and pulled into the path of a 2005 Honda Civic being driven westbound by 22-year-old Lexington resident Mellani R. Nigh.

Nigh was wearing a seat belt and suffered just minor injuries. She was taken by private vehicle to Lafayette Regional Hospital in Lexington for treatment.

The Highway Patrol says it is unknown if Outersky and her passenger, 86-year-old Darwin R. Outersky, were wearing seat belts at the time. Both however did suffer serious injuries and were taken by Ray County Ambulance to Liberty Hospital for treatment.
