(Missourinet) A Missouri data portal shows that Missouri has an estimated 600-thousand residents who are deaf or hard of hearing.
It’s what Pastor Randy Dignan at Bible Baptist Church in Jefferson City calls an underserved population. He is a CODA, or child of deaf adults, who ministers to mid-Missouri’s deaf population.
He is also a certified licensed interpreter, and his church is offering residents the opportunity to learn American Sign Language fluently through private Facebook group classes.
