Midwest Data Project Selected For Broadband Expansion Funding

A project planned by Midwest Data Center has been selected as one of 16 broadband projects to receive funding through the state’s Emergency Broadband Investment Program.
Midwest Data Center, Inc. plans to expand a fiber optic network to improve broadband services from Craig to Big Lake in Holt County. The project is expected to assist 140 underserved households with up to 1 Gbps service. The state’s assistance will amount to $483,000.
The state’s Emergency Broadband Investment Program is funded with CARES Act funding to reimburse providers that have expanded, or plan to connect, high-speed internet to residents in unserved or underserved areas in the state in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Providers will utilize funds to assist with construction costs for new broadband expansion to households with students or vulnerable populations.
There were a total of 16 broadband projects that were announced in this round of funding. A total of $3 million was provided for the projects.
