(MISSOURINET) – Missouri has a shortage of teachers, and the state Legislature has passed a bill that looks to indirectly address that. Republican Senator Rusty Black of Chillicothe (chill-uh-coth-EE)’s bill would modify the state retirement system to allow retired teachers or non-certified employees to work up to four years full-time…
If a teacher stays in the classroom for 32 years, their retirement check will be a little bit higher for those who agree to continue working with the district for another couple of years. It also allows the retired teachers to work in districts in non-teaching positions to help fill badly needed positions. The governor has until the middle of July to take action on the bill.
