Missouri Agriculture Director Chris Chinn Talks Drought, Supply Chain in St. Joseph

(MISSOURINET) –  Missouri Agriculture Director Chris Chinn says the state farm economy faces many challenges even as it weathers a long, dry summer.

Chinn addressed the 11th annual event of the Community Foundation of Northwest Missouri meeting on the Missouri Western State University campus in St. Joseph.

Chinn says inflation is having a big impact on farmers and ranchers. . .

A rise in interest rates will make borrowing more expensive. Supply-chain disruptions have made it difficult to get equipment parts.

Also, central and southern Missouri are struggling with drought conditions.

Chinn says northwest Missouri has been spared the drought conditions impacting much of the state.
