Missouri-American Water Applies To Take Over Wood Heights Water & Sewer Systems

Missouri-American Water Company has filed applications with the Missouri Public Service Commission seeking to acquire and operate the municipal water and sewer systems in the city of Wood Heights.

According to the applications, Missouri-American would purchase all of the water and sewer system assets of the currently unregulated systems of Wood Heights.

Missouri-American would then provide water service pursuant to the existing rates currently applicable to their St. Joseph service area until such time as the rates are modified according to law. They propose to provide sewer service pursuant to the existing rates currently applicable to their Lawson service area until such time as the rates are modified according to law.

Voters in Wood heights approved the sale of the water and sewer systems in an election on April 5, 2022.

Missouri-American provides water service to about 480,000 customers in Missouri, and sewer service to about 22,000 customers. According to the applications, Wood Heights currently serves approximately 260 water accounts and 190 sewer accounts.
