Missouri Century Farm Application Deadline Approaching
The University of Missouri Extension is reminding those eligible that a deadline to apply to be designated as a Missouri Century Farm is approaching.
A farm is eligible to be a Missouri Century Farm if a farm has been in a family since December 31st, 1922. The same family must have owned the farm for 100 consecutive years. The line of ownership from the original settler or buyer may be through children, grandchildren, siblings and nephews or nieces, including through marriage or adoption. The farm must be at least 40 acres of the original land acquisition and make a financial contribution to the overall farm income.
There are more than 8,000 Missouri farms which have been designated as a Century Farm designation.
There is a $140 fee that covers the cost of a certificate, a metal farm sign, and a booklet for approved applicants.
Details and an online application for the program can be found at www.extension.missouri.edu. Applications are due by May 1st.
