Missouri Commission Presents Teacher Recruitment and Retention Survey Results

(MISSOURINET) –  A statewide commission has received more than 16-thousand responses designed to help boost Missouri K-12 teacher recruitment and retention.

The Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education posted the survey online earlier this month and teachers, superintendents as well as principals responded over the five-day period.

During a commission meeting this week, Assistant Commissioner, Dr. Paul Katnik, laid out some of the results.

More than 80-percent of teachers surveyed say an increase in base salary should be a high priority or essential when considering components of teacher pay. More than 90-percent of superintendents say it should be while just over 50-percent of principals agree.
