Missouri Commission Reviews Ways to Improve Teacher Pay

(MISSOURINET) –  Missouri’s teachers are leaving the field at a growing rate and the state is working to try and keep them around. A statewide teacher recruitment and retention commission focused Wednesday on boosting teacher pay. Lori Taylor, a Texas A&M professor, says many Missouri teachers are mobile and will move where better pay is.

She says that raises a serious equity concern. The commission is putting together recommendations to present to the Missouri Board of Education in October.
