Missouri Congresswoman Introduces Bill to Fund Resources for Families Impacted by Police Violence

(Missourinet) A bill introduced by Missouri Congresswoman Cori Bush would fund mental health resources for families impacted by police violence.

The St. Louis Democrat says, “currently, there are no government-funded mental health programs or services targeted for victims of police brutality, leaving communities without the tools to heal and for trauma to linger. ” A release from Bush’s office says last year set a record with one-thousand-55 deaths by law enforcement in the U-S. Bush worked with the mother of Michael Brown, Lezley McSpadden, in introducing the Helping Families Heal Act. McSpadden says mental health therapy is her first line of treatment for trauma.
