Missouri non-farm payroll employment increased by 2,700 jobs from August to September while the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate decreased by one-tenth of a percentage point. Private industry employment increased by 10,400 jobs and government employment decreased by 7,700 jobs.

The not-seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate decreased by 1.2 percentage points to 1.8 percent compared to the national average of 3.3 percent.

Over the year, there was an increase of 71,500 jobs from September 2021 to September 2022 and the unemployment rate decreased by 1.6 percentage points.

Missouri has been at or below the national unemployment rate for the last five years.
