Missouri Governor Announces Plans To Call Special Session

Missouri Governor Mike Parson has announced a special session will be called for the purpose of providing permanent tax relief and extend a sunset on agricultural tax credits. Governor Parson called for the special session during a media conference. During that conference, the governor also announced vetoes of House Bills 2090 and 1720.

House Bill 1720 would have established agricultural tax credit programs and re-authorized others. The sunsets on those programs would have been 2 years. The governor wanted a minimum of 6 year sunsets.

House Bill 2090 was intended to provide a one-time $500 or $1,000 depending on income and filing status. The governor says the rebates would have been less than advertised. The governor wants a special session to develop permanent tax relief.

Once a date is selected, additional details and proposed bill language will be released.
