Missouri Hunters Harvest Over 11K Deer During New CWD Portion of Firearms Season

Preliminary data from the Missouri Department of Conservation shows hunters harvested 11,705 deer during the state’s new chronic wasting disease portion of the firearms deer-hunting season, November 22-26, in CWD Management Zone counties.

Of the 11,705 deer harvested, 4,707 were antlered bucks, 1,074 were button bucks, and 5,924 were does.

The CWD Management Zone consists of the following counties in or near where CWD has been found in our listening area: Caldwell, Carroll, Clay, Clinton, Grundy, Livingston, Mercer, and Ray.

Archery deer hunting continues through January 15. The late antlerless portion of firearms deer season runs December 2-10 in open counties, and the alternative methods portion will occur December 23 through January 2.
