(MISSOURINET) – Missouri lawmakers are weighing legislation that seeks to provide expanded Medicaid coverage for low-income women. If passed, the coverage would include full Medicaid benefits for the length of the pregnancy as well as for one year following the end of the pregnancy. Republican Senator Mike Moon of Ash Grove questions the cost and details of said bill, wondering whether abortion fell under the bill’s language and if they would be allowed to receive one year of postpartum coverage. The proposal failed to pass in last year’s legislature. The committee has not yet voted on the postpartum bills.
