Missouri Senate Hits the Gas on Controversial Education Package

(MISSOURINET)-  A controversial K-12 public education package could come up for debate soon in the Missouri Senate. A Senate committee has passed a plan that deals with accessibility rights of parents on the education records of their children and restricting the teaching of the 1619 Project, Critical Race Theory or similar instruction. The body of work says racism and inequity are embedded in institutions and legal systems. James Harris, a lobbyist for Florida-based political nonprofit called Opportunity Solution Project, tells Senator Lauren Arthur, a Democrat, that he supports the plan.

Under the plan, a district who does not follow the rules could have up to 50-percent of its state aid withheld.
