Missouri Student Test Scores “Not Out Of The Woods Yet”

(Missouri Net) State Education Commissioner Margie Vandeven says Missouri student test scores are not out of the woods yet.

A preliminary report on state-mandated tests shows elementary and high school students scored slightly better in English while middle schoolers scored the same or slightly lower. Math and Science scores held steady or were slightly higher in all grades while Social Studies scores declined.

Vandeven says many reasons contribute to these scores not yet reaching levels prior to the pandemic.

Vandeven says other factors contributing to the scores include the mental health of students and a continued problem with chronic absence from school.
