Missouri Teams Up With National Nonprofit To Close Digital Divide

Missouri’s broadband development director says better internet connectivity and affordability go hand in hand.

Director BJ Tanksley says in using federal and state dollars to improve connectivity, providers agree that having affordable service needs to be provided to a location.

His department is working with a national nonprofit, EducationSuperHighway, which aims to close the digital divide for the 18-million households that have access to the internet but cannot afford to connect.

Missouri is listed as one of the worst U.S. states for internet connectivity with over 400-thousand locations across the state without access to quality broadband.
