Missouri’s Bicentennial Inaugural Parade and Ball are in the Books

Missouri’s Bicentennial Inaugural Parade and Ball were held over the weekend at the state Capitol in Jefferson City. About two thousand people were decked out in tuxedos or formal wear to celebrate Missouri’s 200th birthday and the inauguration of Governor Mike Parson. Laura Buchheit (buck-height) and her family came all the way from southeast Missouri’s Perryville to check out both events for the first time.

The parade included nearly 100 entries, such as several marching bands, floats and the Budweiser Clydesdales. The ball was held outside of the Capitol and included lawmakers walking the red carpet, a band from Branson as well as a fireworks show.
