Missouri’s Drought Assessment Committee to Meet Next Week
JEFFERSON CITY, MO – Missouri’s Drought Assessment Committee will meet next Thursday in Jefferson City.
The Committee in under the Missouri Department of Natural Resources and is composed of representatives from state and federal partner agencies who help guide the state’s drought response by providing information, recommendations and coordination to mitigate the impacts of the drought.
Executive Order 22-04 declared a drought alert for 53 Missouri counties that were in severe or extreme drought. The alert has been extended until March 1st.
Drought conditions persist in about 51 percent of Missouri, with severe drought conditions in less than 2 percent of the state.
The Committee meeting is open to the public and will be livestreamed on Webex, with the link available on the DNR website. It will take place from 10 am to noon on Thursday.
