Missouri’s Effort to get Thousands of Rape Kits Tested is Making Progress

Missouri is making progress at getting thousands of sexual assault kits tested. The Missouri Attorney General’s office has been working since 2019 to close a backlog of nearly 45-hundred untested kits. Attorney General Eric Schmitt says his office has shipped 2,101 kits, with 155 resulting in DNA hits and 35 leading to criminal referrals so far.

He says his office will continue to hold shipping events across the state to get kits to labs.
