MO Department of Mental Health Dealing with a Staffing Crisis in St. Joseph and Statewide

The Missouri Department of Mental Health is dealing with major staffing shortages. During a House subcommittee hearing, Director Mark Stringer says the primary problem is low wages.

In St. Joseph, the state’s 108-bed psychiatric hospital has the most nursing vacancies. About 74-percent of its RN jobs and 56-percent of licensed practical nurse positions are open.
