MO-DOT Celebrating Buckle Up Phone Down Campaign Today

Seat belt usage in the Show-Me State is at an all-time high.

The Missouri Department of Transportation is celebrating its annual Buckle Up Phone Down campaign today (tuesday) by reminding Missourians to wear their seat belt and not look at their phone while driving.

MO-DOT says the latest Missouri Seat Belt Usage Survey, taken annually since 1998, shows 87.7% of Missourians use a seat belt.

That number was 60% in 1998.

Jon Nelson, Executive Committee Chair for The Missouri Coalition for Roadway Safety, says seat belt usage has increased 6.4% in the past three years alone.
