MO-Dot To Start I-29 Resurfacing In St. Joe Area

The Missouri Department of Transportation is planning a major resurfacing project on Interstate 29 in the St. Joseph area that begins later this week and will last deep into October.

The pavement improvement project will take place on I-29 from south of Business Route 71 in Andrew County to just before the Pigeon Creek Bridges south of Route O in Buchanan County.

Starting on Wednesday, March 1 contractors with Herzog will begin work on the concrete under the Missouri Route 6, or Frederick Boulevard, Bridge. That work zone will extend north and southbound from Gene Field Road to Route YY (Mitchell Avenue).

Traffic will be down to one lane in both directions through early July for that concrete work. Contractors will then make guardrail and cable improvements in the area through late August

From Mid-July through late October the resurfacing will take place and is scheduled to be completed overnights with intermittent lane closures.

All work is weather-permitting, and schedules are subject to change.
