MO House Speaker On Transgender Bills: Transgender Families Should Not Be Fearful

(MISSOURINET) – Several Missouri legislative bills are awaiting Governor Parson’s decision, including two Republican priorities that would limit transgender healthcare and sports participation. A Columbia school board member with a transgender child has resigned and plans to move out of state due to these bills passing. House Speaker Dean Plocher (plocker) says Missouri families with transgender members should not be fearful of the bills…

House Democratic Leader Crystal Quade says the chance to do more bipartisan work was replaced by Republicans derailing it with “an extreme agenda centered on culture wars to divide Missourians.”

Meanwhile, Republican priority bills that fell short of passing this session include legalizing sports betting, restricting foreign ownership of farmland and making it tougher to pass changes to the state constitution.
