MO House Unanimously Rejects Resignation of Lawmaker to Allow Ethics Committee to Continue Investigation

Missouri House Republicans and Democrats have united today to unanimously reject the resignation of Republican state Representative Rick Roeber (ray-ber) of Lee’s Summit. Nine members did not vote. His now-adult children have accused him of abusing them when they were younger. House Ethics Committee Chairman Travis Fitzwater, a fellow Republican from Holts Summit, says the committee needs time to wrap up its investigation of Roeber and submit its findings.

Roeber, who was elected to the House last November, has not been charged with a crime and says he has set out to do everything he wanted to accomplish during his time in the House. The committee plans to release a full report next week.
