More Drought Improvement Realized In Missouri
Missouri’s new Drought Monitor map showed more improvement for the state’s soil moisture situation.
At this point, half of Missouri’s territory is now free of any soil moisture deficit. That is a 14 point improvement from last week. There was also a dramatic drop in moderate drought territory. 10 percent of Missouri territory is now in moderate drought. That is a 19 percent drop from last week. 37 percent of Missouri now has pre-drought conditions. That figure is up from last week, but much of that increase is due to the previous week’s moderate drought territory in Missouri being upgraded.
Iowa’s map stayed steady statistically in their moisture deficits. 11 percent of Iowa territory is free from drought, and that includes much of Ringgold and Decatur counties. 23 percent showed abnormal dryness. 37 percent of Iowa territory is in moderate drought. 21 percent of Iowa is still in severe drought.
