Mount Ayr Council Changes Health Care Provider During Council Session
Mount Ayr’s Board of Aldermen rescinded a motion made during their first December meeting regarding their choice to seek repairs for their 2016 garbage truck. The action was taken as part of a meeting on Monday night. The earlier action approved an overhaul of the old truck. The action was intended to allow the city to allow the city to provide service while they financed a new truck. Since that decision, the city received an offer of $31,000 for the old truck. At this time, the council is now reviewing other options that may be available since an offer has been made. The city still plans to keep financing in place for a new garbage truck.
Council members also changed their health care provider at the session. The board has changed their insurance carrier from United Healthcare to Wellmark. The city will continue to pay 72 percent of employee premiums. The city will also put the first year savings accumulated by the city under the new plan into an employee Health Savings Account if they employee chooses an HDHP plan.
Council members approved a multi jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan from Ringgold County.
The council also approved a one time $200 salary adjustment for all city employees.
