Mount Ayr Council Discusses Municipal Parking Lot Sale To Hy-Vee

Mount Ayr’s Board of Aldermen held a public hearing on the proposal to sell the municipal parking lot to Hy-Vee during their meeting held on Monday night.

Hy-Vee would like to buy the municipal parking lot that is located just north of the square at the former ShopKo property. The city council members have had some questions regarding Hy-Vee’s First Right of Refusal agreement that is tied to the sale. Another final public hearing on the matter is planned next Monday, August 24th.

Mount Ayr’s council approved a partial payment to Feldhacker Contracting for work on the Cleveland Street Reconstruction. They approved work estimated at $14,000 to provide new insulation for the Blue Water Tower. The council also approved a fence for property at 120 S. Taylor Street for the Greater Regional Health Clinic.

Council members decided not to proceed at this time with Direct Deposit for Payroll Checks. New tracks were approved for the city’s skid loader.

Two permits allowing chickens were also approved for the year at the session.
