The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported 2 fatalities and 124 traffic crashes statewide in the 2023 Christmas holiday weekend counting period.
This year’s Christmas counting period covered 78 hours, from 6pm Friday until 11:59pm on Monday. Troopers investigated 124 crashes which included 71 injuries and the 2 fatalities. There were 81 DWI arrests made during this year’s counting period.
In last year’s counting period, there were 1,017 traffic crashes statewide. There were 4 fatalities and 318 injuries.
The fatality accidents took place in the Troop D and Troop G Highway Patrol zones, in Springfield and West Plains, respectively. One of those fatalities took place on Saturday. The other one was on Sunday.
There were no boating crashes nor drownings during the 2023 Christmas holiday counting period.
