Six people died in traffic crashes over the 2021 Memorial Day weekend counting period from 6 pm on Friday through 11:59 pm Monday.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol troopers investigated 270 traffic crashes during the counting period which resulted in 82 injuries and 4 fatalities. The patrol made 112 DWI and 77 drug arrests statewide. Two additional traffic fatalities were reported in Springfield and St. Louis.
The Patrol also investigated 10 boating crashes which resulted in 2 injuries and 1 fatality. There was 1 drowning in the State over the Memorial Day weekend. Troopers made 8 BWI and 2 drug arrests.
During last year’s counting period, the Patrol investigated 310 traffic crashes, which included 126 injuries and 6 fatalities as well as 11 boating crashes that caused 7 injuries and 1 fatality.
In Northwest Missouri Troop H investigated 10 traffic crashes with five injuries during the counting period. There were zero fatalities in Troop H over the holiday weekend and troopers arrested five impaired drivers.
