MU Expert: Americans Grouse About Political System, But Reelect Same People

(Missourinet) A Pew Research Center study finds that Americans have an overwhelmingly negative view of politics.

It’s not easing up as we’re less than one full calendar year from the 2024 general elections with gubernatorial, congressional, senatorial, and presidential spots all up for grabs.

Peverill Squire, a University of Missouri political science professor, tells Missourinet that people will say that they are unhappy with the way things are going.

That Pew Research study says there’s widespread criticism of the three branches of government, both political parties, as well as political leaders and candidates for office with only 16-percent of the public saying they trust the federal government always or most of the time.
