Murray Resident Facing Charges Following Bridge Damage In Ringgold County

The Ringgold County Sheriff’s Department reports a Murray resident is facing charges following an early morning incident over the weekend.

The Department reports 43 year old Jaycub Leroy Waske was driving a vehicle also occupied by 45 year old Jason Waske of Mount Ayr on Highway J55 in an area only open to local traffic. The press release indicated Jaycub Waske ignored construction signs and drove through cones indicating a highway drop off and eventually struck a bridge deck at a high rate of speed.

The vehicle was totaled in the accident, and the bridge construction was damaged. Jaycub Waske was charged with Interference with Official Acts, Failure to Obey a Traffic Control Device, and Leaving the Scene of an Accident/Failure to Provide Aid.

Both occupants were injured in the accident. They were initially treated at Ringgold County Hospital and later transferred to Mercy Hospital in Des Moines.
