Napoleon, MO Man Struck By Pick Up

An elderly Napoleon, Missouri man was struck by a pick-up truck that was trying to avoid another vehicle Tuesday night.

Troop A of the Missouri State Highway Patrol says the string of events happened at 13738 Pleasant Prairie Road in Lafayette County at 8 P.M. Tuesday when a 17-year-old Wellington male was driving a 1995 Chevy Silverado northbound on Pleasant Prairie Road and met an uninvolved vehicle on a hill crest.

The 17-year-old swerved to miss that vehicle which sent his truck off the right side of the roadway. The vehicle then came back onto the roadway, crossed the center line, and began to skid before traveling off the right side of the roadway a second time. Once off road the second time the truck hit a mailbox, a telephone cable junction box, a utility pole, and a pedestrian.

That pedestrian, 80-year-old Napoleon resident Eldon E. Davolt, suffered serious injuries and was taken by Wellington-Napoleon EMS to Centerpoint Medical Center in Kansas city for treatment.

The driver of the pick-up truck was not injured in the accident.
