It’s now about 2 weeks removed from the derecho that tore a path through the central section of Iowa and the heart of the Corn Belt. National Corn Growers Association President Kevin Ross is a southwest Iowa farmer. Southwest Iowa was out of the high impact zone, but not the central part of the state.

He did give some of the early damage estimated figures.

He says the process to find programs for aid is still in a fairly early stage.
